Dear Corporate Golf Cummunity,
We are inviting you to become a team sponsor in the 1st Annual Celebrity-Pro-Veteran Invitational to be held at Granite Links Golf Course on June 29, 2009. We are limiting this year’s event to 32 teams. The teams will be comprised of 32 Celebrities, 32 Pros, 32 Veterans and two members of your corporation; the celebrities will entertain, the pros will impress and the veterans will benefit and your team member will have a day to remember. The 32 teams will be competing for the right to have their names on the “Dueling Pistols Trophy” to be displayed in the Massachusetts State House. The “Dueling Pistols,” were once owned by General Benjamin Pierce who fought at the Battle of Bunker Hill. They were war spoils taken after the British left Boston.
The prestige of having your name associated helping veterans and with these pistols is honoring the veteran’s of the past and those of the future. There are thousands of visitors each year passing through the halls of the State House and your name will be on the case housing the pistols.
The economics of our times are difficult for us to comprehend and to accept. Now, think about a returning veteran with significant injuries from the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan. Can you imagine how frightening it must be to be injured and then facing the harsh reality of the country’s economics and the inability to provide for oneself or a family? To become a team sponsor for the 1st Annual Celebrity-Pro-Veteran Invitational is $2,500.00. This is a small investment for a day of golf in exclusive company and knowing that Massachusetts veterans are receiving the care they deserve.
We all have suffered from these financial set backs. But the vast majority of us can weather the storm. We must always remember that what we have is linked to the blood and lives of our armed forces and the men and women who unselfishly give of themselves to defend the principles of freedom. We are asking you to help us assist these men and women.
In the process of helping these veterans, please remember the Disabled American Veterans is a non-profit federally chartered (501 c (4)) organization, your contributions are tax deductible. Our principle focus is to build better lives for disabled veterans and their families in Massachusetts. We assist veterans that can be a member of your own family, a neighbor or an employee. Our purpose is simple and that is to assist them in obtaining benefits and services from state and federal agencies they have earned through their military service.
For those veterans that have sustained significant injuries, we will help transport them from their homes to a local VA medical facility for treatment and rehabilitation. While at these facilities, we have trained Department Service Officers providing assistance in taking claims for VA and state benefits. We have an extremely close working relationship with the DAV National Service Office in Boston, which is the veteran’s advocate before the VA. All of our services are provided free of charge. Your participation will leave and indelible mark in rebuilding their lives and futures. It is truly honorable and one of the greatest of gifts to extend a helping hand.
Count your blessings as you support the DAV Celebrity-Pro-Veteran Invitational as a sponsor. While taking in the views from Granite Links, looking down over the City of Boston and Dorchester Heights, imagine the rolls of Revolutionary cannon fire and the traditions that were forged at those very beginnings. It isn’t hard to see the generations of wounded Massachusetts veterans on the horizon saluting future generations and charging us with the task of taking care of our own and remembering their sacrifices.
Please consider it a privilege and a duty bound honor to be invited to participate in this new adventure at Granite Links honoring Massachusetts’s native sons and daughters. At the end of the day, we can stand on the hill side and salute them back with the full knowledge that we will take care of their needs and show them the respect and honor they well deserve. In the end, we will have had a fun day of fellowship and great golf with the knowledge that we helped make a difference.
